How to Generate an API Key - Apple App Store Connect
This guide will walk you through generating an App Store API Key and sharing it securely with StaffUpApp. This key will allow StaffUpApp to interact with App Store Connect on your behalf to ensure efficient and automated builds.
Important: API Keys are highly sensitive and should be treated with care. Do not share this key publicly.
What you'll need:
Your Apple Developer Account Login
Steps:
Log in to App Store Connect: Visit https://developer.apple.com/app-store-connect/ and enter your Apple Developer Account credentials.
Navigate to Users and Access: Click the "Users and Access" button.
Integrations Tab: On the Users and Access page, click the "Integrations" tab.
Choose App Store Connect API Keys: From the "Keys" menu on the left, select "App Store Connect API".
Access Team Keys: Within the "Keys" section, click the "Team Keys" tab.
Generate a New Key: Click the "**+**" button next to the "Active" title.
Name Your Key: In the "Generate API Key" popup, enter a descriptive name for your key. Here's a suggested format: <company short name>_upload_api_MMDDYY (e.g., XYZ_upload_api_111424).
Select Admin Permissions: Click the "Start typing here" area and type "admin". Select "Admin" from the list that appears. This grants StaffUpApp the necessary permissions to perform tasks on your behalf.
Generate the Key: Click the "Generate" button in the bottom right corner of the popup.
Download the Key File: Back on the Integrations page, locate your newly created key under "Active". Click the "Download" button next to the key. This will download a file (usually in .p8 format). Save this file securely.
Prepare the Email: Do not send the downloaded file directly in the email. Instead, create a new email and address it to [sebastian@staffupapp.com]. Attach a blank document (e.g., a text file) to the email for now.
Copy the Issuer ID: Click the "Copy" link under the "Issuer ID" column for your newly created key. Paste the copied Issuer ID into the body of your email.
Send the Email: Once you have saved the downloaded key file securely and copied the Issuer ID, you can send the email.
Please Note:
Store your downloaded key file in a secure location.
If you suspect your key may be compromised, you can revoke it by following the steps above and clicking "Revoke" instead of "Generate".
By following these steps, you will have successfully generated an App Store API Key and securely shared it with StaffUpApp to facilitate their work on your behalf.
